As a member of the Rural Issues Committee and a past member of the Law Society of NSW Elder Law, Succession and Capacity Committee Our senior partner, Jason Goode, has represented the Law Society and its members on policy and practice issues for many years. Our senior partner has spent many years involved with the Law Society as not only a member, but has also served on the Elder Law, Capacity & Succession Committee and the Rural Issues Committees. He is also joint president of the Riverina Law Society.

His involvement on these committees ensures Farrell Goode has a front row seat to observe, learn and influence policy proposals and law reforms that help guide legal practitioners and provide our clients with best practice outcomes.

The Elder Law, Capacity & Succession Committee monitors all matters related to elder, capacity and succession law, and represents the Law Society and its members on policy and practice issues arising from it. Their priorities include:

  • Developing and commenting on law reform and legal policy proposals (including preparing submissions, and liaising with government and other stakeholders in this process)
  • Educating the legal profession about changes to the law, and providing guidance on practice and other issues
  • Exchanging information about issues arising in legal practice (such as recent case law) that may indicate a legal policy issue or concern

The Rural Issues Committee monitors legal issues of relevance to rural practitioners and their clients, focusing on the provision of legal education programs of specific benefit to rural practitioners.
